Tucson, Arizona

Lang Wyatt is working with the City of Tucson and an architect to build this new $5 million facility on Tucson's east side for Tucson Water.  The facility is located in a residential neighborhood, and was designed to minimize noise intrusion, as well as visual intrusion.  Roof heights are kept at a lower elevation and slope with the site, and mechanical units are kept off the roofs.  Building circulation and parking are in a compact area to minimize site impact.

The design is simple creative metal buildings which minimizes the cost of the facilities and allowed the budget to absorb equipment and systems desired by the client, including cranes, welding, training equipment, and furnishings.  The building is LEED^® registered and is expected to achieve a LEED^®  Silver Rating.  Construction will be complete in 2009.

Tucson, Arizona

Lang Wyatt is building this new $2 million, 7,500 SF satellite fire station in Corona de Tucson, outside Tucson, Arizona.  The station will be more like an urban station than a rural station when the neighborhood commercial center that surrounds it is completed.  The station was designed to meet achieve LEED® Silver Certification.  The station will be energy efficient, conserve water, will utilize solar hot water heating, will feature a low maintenance metal roof, and will be built with local material as much as possible. 

The crew quarters makes use of a high efficiency wall and roof systems called SIPs, or structurally insulated panels.  This system results in high insulation value and easy assembly.  The station includes four drive through apparatus bays, individual crew quarters for five, three private shower rooms, operations room, day room, gear and turnout storage, exercise room and ample storage.

Sierra Vista, Arizona

Lang Wyatt completed the construction of a $1.35 million new building in the middle of an active transit center site in Sierra Vista, Arizona, near the US/Mexico border.  The new building and outside bus shelters provide facilities for transit system riders and employees.   There are public restrooms, a spacious lounge area, and multiple offices.  

The striking, modern architecture of the facility highlights large expanses of glass and recycled steel, highly efficient electrical and HVAC systems, and many other features of sustainable design.   The building isLEED^® registered and is expected to achieve a LEED^®  Silver Rating.

Green Valley, Arizona

Lang Wyatt is working in a Construction Manager at Risk relationship with WSM architects to build two new fire stations totaling $7.5 million for Green Valley Fire District in the retirement community of Green Valley, south of Tucson.  Station 151 is a four-bay station and Station 155 is a three-bay station.  Each station is subject to significantly different local aesthetics, but a standardized program and conceptual space plan was developed which allows the flexibility necessary to find a solution that fits the site and the surrounding neighborhood.

Both stations will be pursuing LEED^® Silver Certification, reflecting the District's commitment to the community and the environment.  A standing seam metal roof will allow integration of building-mounted photovoltaic panels.
